Sanderling (Calidris alba)

Sanderling, Calidris alba

The Sanderling is a small shorebird often found with other stints or peeps, such as semipalumated sandpipers. The underparts of sanderlander are white, the legs and beak are dark, and the back is gray. The lack of hind toes of its feet is a good field marker for this species.
